My slow flow classes have been providing a relaxed, friendly environment for the Kingborough community to breathe, stretch and unwind for a few years now. I use plenty of cues to make sure you are able to get out of your monkey mind and grounded into your body. The practice is slow yet dynamic, so some poses are strong but everybody gets to move at their own pace and take rest when they need to. There is no pretence, no expectation of you to be anything other than exactly where you’re at, and my classes are a welcome mix of educational, challenging and just the right amount of daggy. There is no pouting into a mirror or taking yourself seriously.

stiff folks chair yoga
About
Beat stiffness and soreness, increase flexibility, enhance muscle strength and stay active in this supportive chair-based yoga class. It is important to note that whilst we will be mostly seated, we will be doing some balance and ankle strength exercise which may be standing and using the chair for steadiness. As with all classes, participants are asked to modify their practice in attunement to their own needs. Chairs will be provided and, if you find a cushion or lumbar support helpful, you may wish to bring this along.

About
I’m offering this course as a solution for all the folks who are too intimidated by the marketing out there that misleads people into thinking they have to be white, skinny, female, able-bodied and flexible to do yoga. Yoga is for everybody and I want you to feel welcome as a complete newbie to give this a crack.
If you have always wondered about yoga, heard how good it is for the mind and body, but never tried it, I have a 5-week introductory course just for you. I will guide you through some of the foundational postures (asanas) and breathing techniques (pranayama) and make sure you know how to move safely and confidently through this ancient practice. You don’t have to have done any yoga before to be here and there will be time and space to ask questions and get practical support.

FAQ
The most common style I teach is hatha yoga. We begin with pranayama (breathing practice) to ground, then stretches to warm up the body. We move through some slowed-down sun salutations (or moon, depending on the lunar cycle), building to a peak pose, after which we cool down with some stretches and rest in savasana.
I don’t really believe in the notion of levels in yoga because it creates competition and needing to achieve, which is not what yoga is about. Come as you are, breathe and move at your own pace, with kindness and compassion for the parts of you that aren’t so flexible. Flexible doesn’t necessarily mean better, i.e., I’m hyper mobile in some joints meaning I’m more prone to injury. We all have different length bones and mobility in our joints, therefore it is going to look different for each person. The key is to do the pose safely for your body and feel into what works for you.
I offer plenty of cues on alignment and am happy to discuss modifications or alternatives after class if you’re having trouble with something.
This can be used for 6 months. Cancellations less than 24 hours before a class lose that class from their bundle.
When you buy a 10-pass, there’s an option to automatically enrol in the rest of the classes for the term. If you select this option, the system takes a class credit off your pass as each date goes by. If you need to cancel a class, you can login to Momence and cancel the date(s) you have selected. If you get stuck, you can always email me at [email protected]. There is also a Momence app which may make managing your participation easier on a smartphone
